2014.9.11

Global Summer School students conducted field research at the community of native inhabitants of Pulau Banding, Malaysia for 10-11th September 2014. Pairs of a Toyohashi Tech student and a USM student investigated infrastructure of water an…d electricity, medical services, and damage and accidents by wild animals according to Community Sustainability Assessment. The community can be accessed only by boats or 4WD automobiles, and its environment could not be unexpected by us. To obtain drinking water is difficult and problems given by wild animals are really tough and frequent. GSS students will discuss on these problems to resolve them with aspects of sustainability and matching to the traditional life of inhabitants, at TUT-USM Penang campus tomorrow and later.
