Resources for Education and Research
Facilities and Space Available
The main study bases for this program are our renowned Electronics-Inspired Interdisciplinary Research Institute and the Electrical and Electronic Information Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering Courses. In line with public welfare/nursing-care robot development, we plan to cooperate with the Center for Human-robot Symbiosis Research, the Research Center for the Future Vehicle City, and other applicable institutes or organizations established within the university.
State-of-the-art research devices
DNA Sequencer
At the Electronics-Inspired Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Toyohashi University of Technology, three next-generation DNA sequencers are operated: Ion Proton(manufactured by Life Technologies), MiSeq(by illumina)and 454 GS FLX+(by Roche). These are shown in order from front to back in the picture.
Brain Function Inspection/Brain Control Equipment
We have a brain-waves inspection room, various types of electroencephalograph, Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), and other non-invasive brain activity measuring apparatus, as well as non-invasive brain activity measuring equipment for transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS)and transcranial direct-current stimulation(tDCS).
Next Generation Computing System
We have next-generation computers with over 10 TFLOPS computing power and a large amount of high-end software for structural analysis, computational materials science, computational chemistry, and technical processing.
Apparatus for Electrophysiological Experiments
We have an electrophysiological experiment apparatus for retina cells, two-photon excitation microscopy, and other examples of the latest apparatus in this field.
